The Track – Screening of the Documentary Film

Screening of the documentary film “The Track”, January 28th at 7 p.m.
Directed by: Ryan Sidhoo
The Track is a contemporary coming-of-age story following three teenagers—Mirza, Zlatan, and Hamza—chasing their Olympic dreams in post-war Bosnia and Herzegovina. Guided by their coach Senad, they train on the famous yet neglected bobsled track on Trebević, riddled with bullet holes, a relic of the 1984 Sarajevo Winter Olympics. Senad’s unwavering commitment to restoring the neglected track reflects his struggle to secure a future for the boys in a country burdened with one of the highest youth unemployment rates in the world.
The soul of this story lies in its heartfelt, sometimes humorous portrayal of friends striving for a better life amidst rekindled nationalism and political corruption. Drawing parallels to today’s global conflicts, the story follows the boys’ diverging paths as they navigate a world still marked by the atrocities of the 1990s. Ultimately, what emerges over five transformative years of filming is a love letter to Sarajevo— a resonant story of resilience, ambition, and healing.
The screening will be in English. Following the projection, there will be an online discussion with the film’s author.
Entry is 300 RSD.
